So, what is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a gentle, Japanese energy healing technique that supports deep relaxation, stress relief, and emotional and physical healing.
It works with the idea that there is a vital life force energy flowing through all of us, when this energy is balanced and flowing freely, we feel more connected, peaceful, and well. When it’s low or blocked, we may feel depleted, anxious, or unwell.
Reiki is most commonly shared through light touch or hands held just above the body. The practitioner acts as a channel for this universal life force energy, allowing it to flow where it’s needed. Clients often describe a session as calming, restorative, and deeply nurturing, like a warm, glowing energy gently moving through and around the body.
This holistic practice supports healing on all levels: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. It can help ease stress, soothe anxiety, encourage emotional clarity, and create a sense of inner balance and alignment.
The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words:
Rei – meaning “universal” or “spiritual wisdom”
Ki – meaning “life force energy”
Together, Reiki can be understood as spiritually guided life force energy.
Reiki is not a religion, and it doesn’t require any specific belief to work, it’s a safe, natural practice available to everyone, regardless of age or background. It can be experienced on its own or used alongside other healing modalities or medical treatments to support the body’s natural ability to restore itself.
At its core, Reiki is about reconnecting with your own inner calm and healing potential. It’s a return to balance, both within and beyond the body.
